We are three friends brought together by our love of electronic music and book reading. Our idea is to establish the first musical sound recording studio in Transcaucasia for visually impaired and partially sighted people, where they will learn to make electronic music in various softwares and sound engineering in the village of Martkofi. It is well known that sightless people are particularly good with hearing and they are in high demand all over the world. I'm IO, a social psychologist by training, but what has always attracted me more than anything else has been electronic music. I lost my sight at the age of 14. While lying in the hospital, I used to listen to the radio to distract myself. I accidentally came across a wave where electronic music was played, probably from that time I fell in love with this genre of music. Then, over time, I found out that there are synthesizers, computer programs, in which it is possible to compose the same kind of music that I used to listen to when I was lying in the hospital as a child, and I also started my first attempts to make my own music. I slowly collected equipment and have been perfecting my music production techniques since then. The music made by me also accompanies this video, which you are watching right now. I was lucky and a few years ago I went to study in Sweden, at "Svefi Academy", where I found a fully inclusive environment. There I learned to make DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) books, i.e. to reformat audio books into such a version that a sightless person can read books like a sighted person, that he can flip from page to page 20 at will, make notes, highlight footnotes, etc. It's like an audio book, but it's specially designed for the blind and people with reading problems. By making a musical recording studio in my village, it will be possible for people living in Georgia to create similar kind of books. Now I work remotely on foreign projects to reformat books. I wanted to use the knowledge I gained in Sweden in Georgia. Fortunately, I was not too lazy and went to the youth center of Martkofi, where the presentation of educational courses in electronic music and sound engineering was announced for young people living in Martkofi. The course was led by musicians from Tbilisi. That's how I met my new friends, we shared our creativity with each other and realized that we had the same vision. The boys started bringing their own equipment from Tbilisi, so they could teach us hands-on music production, as well as theoretical knowledge. It was associated with many financial costs and inconveniences. Luckily, The Gardabani municipality allocated us a space in the former administration building, where we want to organize a music recording studio fully equipped with equipment, an inclusive and accessible environment for everyone, so that the people who come here, like us, can be united by music and the love of books. It will be a very socially active space, a place for meetings, getting to know each other, sharing ideas and cooperation. Support us! And remember, with even a little bit of what you have left, you are allowing the blind rising stars to shine in the electronic sky!
