Rustavi Cannot Breathe – Give Us Air
Rustavi has the worst air pollution in Georgia. Factories and local industries violate production standards and have refused to install air filtration systems, and air quality in the city continues to worsen.
What we will do:
Gavigude (“We cannot breathe”), a grassroots movement, has been campaigning for the last year against the air pollution in Rustavi and is working with both the local and central governments to put pressure on factories to install new filtration systems. In parallel, we want to create more green spaces in Rustavi in order to improve air quality over time. We are now teaming up with Anemone, a flower and plant shop, to start planting more coniferous trees in Rustavi. We want to create a green and healthy environment. Clean air is critical for people in Rustavi and coniferous trees will help generate more oxygen for future generations.
We are campaigning to plant 300 trees with your support. The trees will be planted in several locations in Rustavi, while volunteers from Gavigude and the local population will take care of them. More trees mean more life, better health, fresher air, and more green spaces!
Let’s let Rustavi breathe again – together!
